Passing Time

Sometimes the longest hour of the day is the hour before dinner. Normally we'd go for a long walk and then play at the park, but this winter was so cold that we'd have to find some indoor entertainment. I'm not sure how this evolved, but at some point Grady heard the Lady GaGa song Bad Romance and loved it. Then at some later point I, in a moment of desperation, showed him and Cole the video to that song on YouTube. It's an understatement to say that the video is weird and not entirely appropriate for little kids. Don't judge - it's hard to keep two little boys who are both yelling "MOOOOMMMAAAAAAA" and wanting to be picked up and cuddled at the same time happy. You learn to use any distraction to keep them content. That day we had already played with every toy imaginable, repacked the tupperware drawers, sorted condiment packets by color, and had drawn on various surfaces of the house, so I turned to YouTube to soothe things over.

So here we are, hanging out and watching GaGa. While the music was on, they'd play with their electronics.
You may think that Grady is holding a calculator, but you are wrong. It's his cell phone, and at this moment he was calling Aunt Karen. Not sure what he was telling her, but he kept giving me sidelong glances so I feel certain that he was gossiping about me.  Now he's telling me to go away and give him privacy. BAH!, he said.

Cole was listening to my MP3 player. And by "listening" I mean that he was playing with the cord. Pulled the white part out, put it back on. Pulled it out, put it back on.
And poor Elvis. He patiently follows us everywhere and sits and watches. And occasionally runs to avoid a thrown ball, book or toy. Here he is, sitting below the desk, waiting for the boys to give him love or treats. The boys love giving him treats, so at random times during the day I'll hear "Elbis, ELBIS, TEEEET". And Elvis goes rubbing towards the little voice to get his treat. I'm tempted to move the treat container out of reach, but it's kinda cute to see the human and dog babies interacting.
And this is how we fill time.

Updated: Here is a video of Grady calling Nana using his Calculaberry.
