First up, the T train to the wharf. We're such seasoned travelers. We went eastbound and down. Loaded up and truckin.
We had to hurry, because we had a boat to catch. Off to the Boston Harbor Islands, first stop Spectacle Island for a little hiking and beach exploring. We spent a few calm and quiet hours here. And maybe some complaining, but whatcha gonna do. They're five.
Next a quick ferry ride to Georges Island for a picnic and Fort Warren. And a mere handful of whiny moments easily squelched with snacks.
A quick ferry ride later we were back on mainland and it being early dinnertime, and we were famished. Our flight attendant yesterday recommended two places in North End, Boston's italian district, so we took a little walk that way to find the best pizza we've had yet. Who cares if we had to wait in the hot sun for 20 minutes to get it?
The boys each had three, THREE pieces of pizza. Walking 5-6 miles will make a boy hungry. And because we, when in Rome do like the Romans, we went to the other recommended place, Mike's Pastry's. Because what does a belly full of pizza need? Cannoli.
This place was packed. PACKED. Being as short as I am, I was in a sea of boobs and armpits, and the boys saw nothing but crotches. I tried to get a few pics, but it was hard.
We made our way back to the waterfront to sit and enjoy. I can speak highly of the espresso cannoli. Amaretto and chocolate chip were also well received. Note the Ellerman cannoli eating grimace all three Ellerman boys made.
After all that we sat back and digested and enjoyed the view. Water one way, and skyline the other. Ahhh.
And so we concluded our first full day here. I would blog more about how we enjoyed the day but the air around me is filled with snores, so I best leave you with one or two more pictures of our trip back to the hotel and sign off. Until tomorrow!
